My name is Ashley Hope. There are many words I could use to describe myself: I am… a woman, an activist, a programmer, an educator, a free thinker, a transsexual person, a bisexual person, a creative person, a writer, a dreamer, and a friend. But these are just words, mostly adjectives or proper nouns. They describe aspects of who I am, but it is the culmination of all of these things that make up who I am.
That being said, there are two main ways in which I try to engage and be active in society. I am an LGBT Activist and a Transgender Advocate. I have hosted or taken part of over 100 panels/presentations/lectures, put together numerous community wide events that attracted local newspaper and television stations, offered LGBT sensitivity training, and strive to increase collaboration between members of the LGBTQIA community, including our straight allies.
The other way in which I engage is through my technical skills and experience as website programmer. I am well versed in a variety of website technologies including ASP.Net, ASP.Net MVC, jQuery, SQL, HTML5, C#, Java, and XML. I have not found many other computer programmer activists, so I am always looking for a way to bring brand new technology into the non-profit and community service fields.
If you have questions you would like answered, either about my blog, about hiring me to speak or to program, or if you just want to ask me a question, please send me an email at Ashley.C.Hope@gmail.com
